Maryland New Directions (MND) is a 47-year-old award-winning non-profit organization offering no-cost employment coaching and specialized career training programs for Baltimore area residents, ages 18-60 years of age.

MND’s organizational philosophy including our intensive, industry-specific training and comprehensive supportive service model, including hard and soft skill training, individual case management and job coaching, career planning, and individual counseling are all designed to promote and support long-term job outcomes and self-sufficiency. MND’s hard and soft skill training provide both market value and market competency, not merely allowing our clients to secure high-quality entry-level work, but also providing them with the lasting soft skills they can rely upon to secure work for the rest of their careers. In addition to knowledge of the job market, MND also seeks to instill our clients with a deeper sense of themselves, helping them to discover their strengths, as well as the kinds of work that inspire them. Together, with the support of their job coaches, each MND client constructs an individual skill inventory and career plan, matching their future aspirations with a realistic appraisal of their desires, abilities, and proclivities. 

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas is a faith-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to empower self-reliance and inspire hope. As a church without walls, we do this through personalized housing, ministry, health, and human services that benefit vulnerable individuals, their families, and the community.

Volunteers of America was founded in 1896 by social reformers Ballington and Maud Booth. They envisioned a movement dedicated to “reaching and uplifting” the American people. On behalf of the organization, the Booths pledged to “go wherever we are needed, and do whatever comes to hand.” That declaration continues to guide Volunteers of America’s outreach efforts today.

JumpStart is a 14-week construction-training program for Baltimore City residents with a high school diploma or GED. Experienced teachers help students understand job readiness and prepare for success on the construction site. Students also receive essential safety training, financial coaching, a stipend, and driver’s education. More than 80% of our graduates are placed in construction jobs, with many leading to solid careers in the construction industry. Project JumpStart also serves contractors by referring only well-screened, job-ready candidates to meet their entry-level hiring needs. Project JumpStart began in 2006 as an effort to provide opportunities in the construction trades to Baltimore City residents.

Civic Works strengthens Baltimore’s communities through education, skills development, and community service. We are a non-profit working in Baltimore communities for over 20 years, and we are deeply committed to service.Our programs deliver tangible results through a combination of job training, skills development and community service.We succeed by harnessing the energy and dedicated commitment of our AmeriCorps members, staff, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and most importantly, the communities in which we work.

The Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC) was established in 1937 to provide federally-funded public housing programs and related services for Baltimore's low-income residents. HABC is the fifth largest public housing authority in the country, with more than 600 employees. Currently, HABC owns and manages 8,236 public housing units in 15 developments.HABC serves over 19,500 households through public housing, the Housing Choice Voucher Program, HUD's Rental Assistance Demonstration Program (RAD), and other rental assistance programs. Most recently, the agency received HUD approval to convert 4,128 units among 26 developments through RAD.
